ANNUAL LOUGH DERG BARBQ
We’ve got plenty of walks, historical sites and visitor attractions for you to explore, but if that not enough for you, we’ve even got our very own annual Ring of Lough Derg BBQ to keep the whole family occupied and of the couch! Preparations are underway for the BBQ festival, and the trusty lineup of delicious barbeque hosts have been announced.
The annual Ring of Lough Derg BBQ kicks off on Thursday 23rd of August at the new Ring of Lough Derg Tourist Office in Killaloe from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm with a barbeque and music, which is sure to be a great event. After last years of success The Washerwoman in Ballina host their annual Free BBQ from 6.00pm to 8.00pm on Friday 24th of August. This will be followed on Saturday by the much anticipated ‘Ring of Lough Derg BBQ Competition’ & Food Fair hosted by Flanagans, Ballina. On the day teams will battle it out for the coveted prize of the ‘An Fulacht Fia Cup.’ This was a huge success last year, when on the day local artisan food producers came to showcase their products at our food festival. As always, it’s going to prove to be a great family fun day out with live Music, Water Zorbing and much more to top off the wonderful culinary event. Please come along and join in the fun in aid of “The Mater Heart Foundation”. The events are free to attend, and promise to be a great event with something for the whole family.
So there you have it! It’s going to be a great three day event for the whole family, and is sure to get everyone of the couch and out in the fresh air. To check out the events on facebook for more information, click here.

Celebrate life on Lough Derg
The lake is about 890 hectares (2,200 acres) in size. Home to the third oldest yacht club in the world, Lough Derg Yacht Club in Dromineer, near Nenagh, Co Tipperary, it's known all over the world in sailing circles. Birthplace to the High King Brian Boru, you can still see what he saw all those years ago, along the Lough Derg Way & East Clare Way.
Enjoyable trip whatever the weather! Nice restaurant with snacks or full meals near where the boat goes from. I have done this trip with friends on several occasions and found it relaxing. The Ring of Lough Derg website is great as you can book your adventure before you arrive. Highly recommend spending time in Lough Derg.
